Canine Learning 2008
Here are some pictures from a previous Canine Learning Experience

Lehigh Valley Kennel Club's 31st annual Canine Learning Experience was a successful educational event from all perspectives.

The informative lectures covered a wide range of topics including such topics as Holistic foods for a healthy pet, pet first aid for the active pet, a Schutzhund demonstration, a sled dog demonstration and several other topics of interest to the dog lovers of the Lehigh Valley. Also present was the popular fast paced and high energy 3D agility group demonstrating their prowness in hurdles, weaves, tunnels and balance beams.

Mother nature provided us with clear, although cold days, much to the delight of both exhibitors and spectators who traveled to our venue. Over 3400 spectators passed through our doors and were treated to over 40 breed and rescue booths as well as a eclectic array of vendors offering all varieties of products from original art works to canine and human clothing to kennel supplies.

Competition began on Saturday morning with a total of 104 dogs entered in the obedience trial. For the first time ever, we also offered Rally classes which drew an entry of 36. Emerging as High in Trial was the Shetland Sheepdog "Waldenwood Time To Boogie, CDX" owned by Kathryn Maydosz of New Ringgold, PA with a score of 198 out of a possible 200.

The Saturday evening puppy match brought out 281 puppies from 3 to 12 months old vying for the prizes offered by LVKC and White Dog Bone. The top prize of Best Puppy in Sweepstakes went to the Dalmatian, "Tramac Call Me Karefree N Cardel" owned by Nancy A Reiter and M. Alice Milwid of Reading, PA.

Sunday featured the all-breed match with a total of 500 entries on deck. As our distinguished panel of judges worked their way through the competition, sorting out the best of each breed and group the competition intensified enroute to the selection of Best Puppy in Match, Best Adult in Match and the ultimate award, Best In Match.

Judge Mr. Jackson L. Secrest selected the Akita, "Zuri's Wicked Game Of Mistique", owned by Danny F. Newmones of Pleasantville, NJ as her Best Puppy in Match. Judge Ms. Liz Muthard preferred the Whippet, Snowcap's Tartan of Afoxden", owned by Judy Alexander & Francis Newsome Lang & Dianne Reimer of Bordentown, NJ for the Best Adult in Match award.

Quite a contrast for Judge Mr. W. David Ashbey to choose between for his Best in Match. After much deliberation, Mr. Ashbey decided that the Whippet was more to his liking on this day.

Plans are already underway for Canine Learning 2009. Mark your calendars for January 24/25, 2009 for the ultimate dog show educational weekend.

Hope you can join us!
